Sparks, NV ➡️ Austin, NV

Yesterday was filled with perfect running weather and nice, flat roads for most of the day, so it was a great day! Pretty much our whole route for was on the Loneliest Highway, so we didn’t see a lot of cars or people, although we did meet one man who is biking across the country.

It was cool to get to stop and briefly hear his story - we offered him some water, but he said he was all set and had five more days until he reached San Francisco. He is from France (this is his first time in the U.S.) and started his ride from New York in April; he had been riding at least 60 miles a day most days.

We also checked out a huge sand dune that seems to have formed from years and years of wind coming over the mountains surrounding the valley where we were running along the Loneliest Highway.

We spent the night at a high school in the tiny town of Austin, NV (population: 192), and woke up to a chilly morning with temperatures in the 30s. The temperatures should warm up to be in the 50s and 60s today, so day 7 should be a great day to run!
