Today was a shorter mileage day; we got our miles done quickly before getting to the host site, First United Methodist Church, where we were welcomed with a tasty baked potato bar for dinner.

Today I ran for Jackie B., the mother of a kind teacher from my high school, who passed away from cancer. We had some big hills today, but having Jackie's name on my leg served as a reminder for me to keep going even when things started to get tough. We are now three weeks into 4K, and the names on our arms and legs and are what can keep us motivated when we start to feel tired or lose sight of the bigger picture.

It was another rainy day, but luckily the sky cleared up a bit right when it was time to run our first leg of the day. As we have been running across South Dakota, a lot of us have mentioned how everything seems to be much more green than we would have imagined the area to be. As we learned today, this is not usually the case - there has been record rainfall in the region recently. A couple of church members at our host site were saying that normally everything would be brown by now, so it is not normal to have so much green still covering the rolling hills, so it looks like we hit South Dakota at a good time. Another blessing in the past week of 4K!

I am a 2019 graduate of Davidson College (B.S. in psychology), where I also played Division I field hockey.  I am planning on going into the medical field, and will be applying to graduate schools to pursue a career as a nurse or physician assistant after 4K.
