Yesterday was day 17, and it was an interesting day to say the least. The van that I was in needed to be serviced, so we got a pretty late start and a lot of us were hitting a wall with fatigue from lack of sleep. One thing that kept me going was seeing the name I had written on my leg - the name of a teammate’s mother who passed away from cancer. Running for those who can’t, for those who have gone through a period of time when their body was fighting against them, helps us stay on track and continue to be thankful for our health even when we feel tired.

We also hit some thunderstorms yesterday, but luckily most of us had finished our miles for the day before we had any problems. We’ve each run a marathon in the past two days (I reached exactly 26.2 miles after a 12-mile day and a 14-mile day); even though it wasn’t a full marathon all at once, having the ability to be out here with a great group of people and complete such mileage day-to-day really makes us appreciate our health even more.

I am a 2019 graduate of Davidson College (B.S. in psychology), where I also played Division I field hockey.  I am planning on going into the medical field, and will be applying to graduate schools to pursue a career as a nurse or physician assistant after 4K.
