In six days, 27 of my soon-to-be closest friends and I will be starting our journey from San Francisco to Boston. Each of us will have everything we need for our 49-day adventure packed into a single duffel bag and backpack, including the sleeping bags and mats we'll be using to sleep in spaces provided by our generous hosts - mostly churches, YMCAs, high schools, and a couple of universities.

In THREE days, I will be traveling to San Francisco to attend 4K orientation and learn the ropes before actually starting the trek across the country. My mom is kind enough to go with me, so I can't wait to explore the city a bit the evening before orientation and then finally get to meet my teammates! In getting to know some of Team Boston through Facebook and Groupme prior to the trip, I can definitely say it is an incredible group of people, and I am so excited to meet everyone. Each person on this team has some sort of connection to cancer (who doesn't these days?), whether they have experienced cancer themselves or have a family member, friend, or relative who has been affected by cancer. We have all been working hard fundraising and training over the past months, and we are all so ready to get started in this journey.

I am a 2019 graduate of Davidson College (B.S. in psychology), where I also played Division I field hockey.  I am planning on going into the medical field, and will be applying to graduate schools to pursue a career as a nurse or physician assistant after 4K.
